JUNE  NEWSLETTER

Hi Everyone. Our Summer Recital is coming up this month on Sunday June 9,2013 at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church (right across from Tim Horton’s on Thames St.). There is plenty of parking in the Church’s West Parking Lot. The recital is free for parents and their families and guests.

The recital will start at 2:30 P.M. but the teachers are asking the students to arrive around 2:00 P.M. in order to get organized.

There are approximately 25 students taking part this year. Everyone has been working hard on preparing their pieces and there will be a lot of fine performances that day.

We are also pleased to announce that Mr. Bill Gibbons will be our special guest on the piano. You won’t want to miss what this talented entertainer has to offer. Also, Bill has offered to MC the recital and we enthusiastically accepted his offer. He always brings knowledge, humour, and great energy to everything he does.

It should be a fun day for everyone. So bring your your cameras and/or recording devices and support our wonderful students, as everyone gets their chance to shine.

SUMMER LESSONS FAQ

Dear parents and Students,

Each year as summer approaches, I tend to get asked these questions:

Q.How do lessons work in the summer?

A.The Academy is open year-round, and we do not close during the summer.

Q.Do a lot of students quit during the summer?

Some students withdraw, but we also get an influx of new students in July and August, and many continue into the fall.

Q. If we withdraw for summer, can we keep our spot for fall?

A.Lessons are first come, first serve,so if you withdraw for the summer we cannot guarantee that we will have the slot for you in the fall, as it will be opened up to new students.

The question for parents and students to consider is:

Do you want to stay with the same teacher or in the same slot for fall?

If the answer is YES there are two ways to do this:

1. Take advantage of our summer lessons.
We realize that some of you go on vacation for a portion of the summer. By signing up for summer make ups, you can make up multiple lessons for the summer at any time.

2. Sub lease your spot to family ro a friend.
You can send a family member or friend in your place for the dates you will miss. Just let the office know who is comming in your place and when. Make sure they reimburse you directly for the lessons.

If you are taking summer lessons and need a specific time for fall, please conact us around late July, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Each September, I get calls from students who have been with us for years, but withdrew for the summer. They want to return to the same teacher, day, and time, but the spot has been filled by another student.

If you love your teacher or your timeslot, keep your spot by using summer make ups or sub-leasing your spot.
